PhD Defense: Intrinsically Motivated Actor-Critic for Robot Motor Learning
7 May 2020
Burhan Hafez successfully defended his PhD thesis titled "Intrinsically Motivated Actor-Critic for Robot Motor Learning" on 7th May. The thesis shows how spatially and temporally local learning progress can be used as an intrinsic reward. This reward guides a directed exploration behavior and enables adaptive arbitration between model-based and model-free control and reliable experience imagination, improving the sample efficiency of learning vision-based robotic grasping.
