PhD Defense: Embodied Crossmodal Language Learning Using Neurocognitively Plausible Mechanisms
5 December 2024
PhD Colloquium by Ozan Özdemir, Informatics Dept., University of Hamburg
Abstract:
Despite the progress made by foundational models, the research on embodied language learning continues to lag behind, underscoring the need for in-depth exploration. Inspired by early childhood development, this dissertation introduces versatile action-language models that integrate linguistic, visual and motor signals through multimodal fusion, paving the way for fully autonomous robots capable of assisting humans in their everyday tasks through advanced communication and sensorimotor skills.
The presentation will be given in English.
Date and time: 05 December 2024, 16.00 p.m.
Seminar Room D220, Informatikum, Vogt-Kölln-Str. 30, 22527 Hamburg.
